Energy Planning
Human-centered planning, facilitation, process & resource development
Project: Energy Technology Innovation Partnership Project
Role: Community Engagement & Program Manager
In my role, I drive high-impact planning and delivery across a range of community energy initiatives, ensuring that technical projects are grounded in strong relationships, effective engagement, and meaningful community input. These projects take place in rural, coastal Alaskan cities and villages, and I serve as a trusted partner to educate external partners on regional nuance, culture, and specificity.
My contributions blend facilitation, operational leadership, social science methods, resource development, and human-centered planning to strengthen accountability and impact. I facilitate multi-stakeholder workshops, manage complex logistics, and translate technical content into accessible formats that support decision-making at every project stage. By coordinating with national labs, partner organizations, tribal councils, Alaska Native Village Corporations, residents, and community leaders, I create conditions where renewable energy projects move forward with clarity, alignment, and shared ownership.
My Approach
-
Lead trips to rural Alaskan communities to facilitate leadership planning workshops, public education events, and structured feedback retrospectives
-
Manage content development, logistics, and event execution for major gatherings such as the Annual Alaska Community Programs Conference
-
Secure external funding and align partner resources to expand community benefits and advance energy efficiency goals
-
Streamline internal processes by creating shared project management systems and databases
-
Develop tools and guides, including scoping resources, onboarding materials, intake systems, and community-facing one-pagers that clarify and improve project alignment
-
Offer tailored educational information for external partners on state-specific energy policies (like Power Cost Equalization), community cultural background, and regional detail (like existing databases and feasibility studies)
-
Integrate social science methods into technical scopes of work to ensure that community input shapes project outcomes through focus groups, interviews, and surveys
-
Create accessible educational materials, funding tools, and presentations that translate technical information for diverse audiences, like community sessions on energy efficiency or the Independent Power Producer model
